DID YOU KNOW?
Masonville Animal Hospital welcomes rabbits of all shapes and sizes!

Rabbits are commonly seen for annual health examinations, spaying / neutering surgery, gastrointestinal problems, urinary tract problems (bladder sludge or bladder stones); dental problems, skin problems, abscesses, and upper respiratory diseases. By far, gastrointestinal problems and dental problems are the most frequently encountered. Through proper diet, the vast majority of GI and dental concerns could be eliminated. We consider a veterinary examination and consultation of paramount importance to a new bunny owner. Essential dietary counselling is provided during the examination.
Why Should You Spay or Neuter Your Rabbit?
- To prevent unwanted pregnancies. There are too many neglected or abandoned bunnies in the world already!
- To prevent uterine and ovarian cancer. It has been estimated that 80% of bunnies over the age of 2 years will develop reproductive tract cancer.
- To prevent aggressive behaviour of both male and female bunnies.
- To reduce or prevent urine marking. Rabbits of both sexes will mark their territories with urine. The urine of male rabbits is particularly foul-smelling.

Male rabbits are neutered at around 4 months of age, while female rabbits are spayed at about 5 months of age. Please
